Harriet Tubman

Barack Obama

Michael Jordan

Harriet Tubman was born in Maryland in about 1820 or 1821. Life as an enslaved person was incredibly difficult, and she escaped in 1849 using the Underground Railroad. Tubman became a conductor on the railroad and aided around 300 enslaved people. After the Civil War, she continued to help others and speak out for equal rights for Black people and women. She died in 1913.

President Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, HI. He graduated from Columbia University and then went to Harvard Law School. After practicing law for 5 years, he got into politics. Obama was on the Illinois State Senate and then the US Senate before winning the 2008 Presidential election against John McCain. Obama was the first African American president of the United States.

Born on February 17, 1963, Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time. He was drafted to the Chicago Bulls in 1984, at only 21 years old. Jordan was entertaining to watch, as he was incredibly talented and had amazing signature moves. He retired in 2003 and is now part owner of the Charlotte Hornets.
