  • Act II Scene Three (Pg.111)
  • Oh, Lord!
  • Me neither. That's how long it been. But we went last night. The picture wasn't much good, but that didn't seem to matter. We went-and we held hands.
  • Act II Scene Three (Pg.112)
  • When we come out of the show it was late and dark and all the stores and things was closed up...and it was kind if chilly and there wasn't many people on the streets...and we was still holding hands, me and Walter
  • What?
  • We held hands-and you know what?
  • In the beginning of scene three, Beneatha and Ruth are having a conversation about what Ruth and Walter had done the night before.
  • Ruth explains that they had finally went to the movies together after a long time and she talks about how the movie wasn't even that enjoyable but that didn't matter because they held hands.
  • Finally, this relates back to the theme of personal development because Walter is putting in time to fix the relationship between himself and Ruth.
