- In chapter one, Ponyboy gets jumped by the Socs on his way home from the movies. The Socs give him a nasty cut on the side of the face when they are ''cutting his hair.'' His gang chases the Socs car and throws rocks at them, while Pony's brothers find him. Luckily, Pony was not too badly hurt, but it scared him.
- Chapter Four
- In chapter three, Ponyboy falls asleep in the empty lot with Johnny after the drive-ins. When he gets home, Darry yells at him and then slaps him. Nobody in Pony's family ever slapped him, so that was a huge shock. Ponyboy then runs away.
- Chapter 5
- In chapter two, Ponyboy goes to the drive-ins with Dally and Johnny. There Dally curses behind two Socs, Cherry and Marcia, to try and embarrass them. Cherry gets very mad at Dally because of his dirty mouth. Eventually Dally leaves because Johnny tells him off, and so Johnny and Pony create a friendship with the girls.
- Chapter 6
- Bob and Randy came to the park in their blue car and jumped Ponyboy and Johnny. Johnny didn't know what else to do and took out his switch blade, and stabbed Bob to save Pony boy from drowning .
- I killed him
- After a few days of staying at the church, Dally comes by the church to tell them everything that's been happening and to check on them. He tells them that Cherry is their spy now and that now there's a whole gang war and that no greaser can go alone.
- When Ponyboy and Johnny and Dally came back they found the church lit on fire and Ponyboy couldn't stop thinking that it was their fault. They later found out that there are kids in the burning building. Ponyboy ran into the building followed by Johnny. They save the kids but Ponyboy catches on fire and Johnny gets hit by a plank that was set on fire.
