Hi I'm Jenny, and I will explain what isMetamorphisim.
A metamorphism is a process of mineral assemblage and texture variation that results from the physical-chemical changes of solid rocks.
There are 2 types of metamorphism that is "Regional Metamorphism" and the "Contact Metamorphism"
Metamorphism is comes from ancient Greek words "meta" for change and "morph" for form.in metamorphism, rocks are not actually melt. They become more dense and more compact.
There are 2 classification of Metamorphic rocks the " Foliated Metamorphic Rocks" and "Non-Foliated Metamorphic Rocks".The FOLIATED have mineral flakes appear to be parallel to the rock and look layer. When the rock break, a thin rock fragment will result.another is NON-FOLIATED that mineral flakes appear to be randomly oriented without obvious banding and have a granular appearance. When the rocks break, there will be no layers and they will not flake apart into thin layers.
in foliated there are 4 examples of rock, the slate, phyllite, schist and gneiss.
And the examples of the non-foliated are: hornfels, quartzite, marble and metaconglomerate.
These are some knowledge that we can easily know. Thank you for your reading!
