Peppler (2016) discusses how new technologies can support and influence Arts education. Media Art and technologies are increasingly being used as tools for traditional artists.
With Explorations/ Electives being understaffed due to lack of training, how can we get trained educators to develop and teach these roles?
Are there advantages of having Traditional Arts and Media Arts separate?
How can we ensure that ART is valued in STEAM programs?
What are the costs associated with implementing these physical computing programs?
The qualitative study took place over a two week e-textiles summer workshop with middle school aged non-dominant Chicago Public School students and were taught by four teachers (Peppler, 2016, p.207). The focus was to see how physical computing could be implemented in K-12 curriculum with updated mediums (ex. robotics, soft circuits for e-textiles, and microcontrollers)

Physical Computing
Through the video recordings, observations, sketchbooks, and informal interviews, the youth were able to explore different aspects of circuit creation, electronic construction, development of specific vocabulary, traditional textiles skills, creative computing, and problem-solving skills (Peppler, 2016)
This study provides possibilities of how Physical Computing could transform Arts Education- but what are other items/ ideas that we need to consider?
In sum, the central tenets of physical computing present us with a new vision of what a maker frame to arts education can look like in today's classrooms- not an abandonment of time-honoured tools, but an opportunity to think and express across physical and digital forms (Peppler, 2016, p.224)
