- Hey Boots! Before we leave for the party, I am going to give you a lesson on the Canadian Election!
- I'm so glad you asked! It is when Canadian citizens get to vote for who they want to represent them as a country
- Dora, what is the Canadian Election?
- Of course, there is lots to learn. You must be 18 years old to vote so you and me aren't old enough yet. You also have to be a Canadian Citizen, (if you were born in Canada you are a Canadian Citizen).
- Ohh, that makes sense. Is there anything else to know?
- When you are old enough to vote you will get a letter in the mail to tell you where and when you can vote. Everyone has a different place to vote depending where they live.
- Voting in an election is just like having to do a chore. When you are 18 years old you should go and vote because it is a very big responsibility.
- Well, Elections Canada is the agency of Parliament responsible for saying when federal elections will take place.
- Woah, that's a lot of stuff. Is there anything else?
