Indian Removal, The Trail of Tears, and The Battle of Little Bighorn.
Thomas Jefferson wanted to buy the Port of New Orleans from France. Instead of accepting the deal, Napoleon made a even better deal. He sold the entire Louisiana territory for 15,000,000 dollars. The U.S doubled in size when hey purchased it.
The Alamo
On May 14, 1804 Lewis and Clark left Saint Lewis with a team of 40 men, to explore the west. They explored what is now Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
Oregon Trail
In the U.S, a new law was made. The law made all Native Americans east of the Mississippi to move west. The journey was called the Trail of Tears because of the hardships they faced. Tensions grew between Native Americans, and Americans, and they fought at the Battle of Little Bighorn.
Gold Rush
In 1835,The Texians decided to fight Mexico for their independence. In one battle, Mexico attacked the Texians at a fort called the Alamo. All of the Texians died in the battle.
The Oregon Trail was difficult. One of the most dangerous things on the trail was cholera. People got it by eating, or drinking contaminated food or water.
In 1848, James Marshall found gold near John Sutter's Sawmill. That started the Gold Rush. By 1852 250,00 people moved to California because of the Gold Rush.
