  • Later that day...
  • Please don't be a creep, pleae don't be a creep...
  • Of course, sit down here.
  • Excuse me, would you have time to talk to me for a bit?
  • No, thanks. I'd prefer to stand.
  • I want to talk to you about the patriarchy. Women have always been, and still are, opressed by the system and our society that was made by and for men and gives them special privileges that especially queer women, trans women and women of colour don't have. That makes their life a lot harder than it should be. Don't you want equal pay for your wife, sister or daughter, too?
  • So you do understand that it is unfair that some people are more privileged than others, and that's not okay.
  • Yes I would like that. But I don't think that women should get more rights than men, that's unfair.
  • Now, what makes you think getting rid of the patriarchy means oppressing men and giving women more rights than men?
  • Women still don't have the same chances as men when it comes to getting jobs in certain fields, women are more likely to die in a car crash because the airbag is constructed for the average cis men, not because they're bad at driving! 1 in 6 American women have been raped or sexually assaulted by men. Women are barely represented in leading positions of companies, the government and other institutions. When it comes to abortion, in some countries law takes away a woman's right to decide over her body. Black and Asian women are the main target for sex trafficking. 1 in 4 women are being abused by their (male) partner, compared to "only" 1 in 9 men. Women and girls are being extremely sexualized, and have to be scared to go outside alone when it's dark because of men. Also, in general women have to pay more for necessary supplies like razors etc. and have a big extra cost for period products, despite earning less money.
  • you're right! That's unacceptable! Let's change this. I'm going to go home and do some research, and then I'll reflect on my behavior and our society and see what I can do. Thank you for telling me all this.
  • Thanks for listening. Now the first step is done. Let's see what we have to do next...
  • To be continued...
