Hey do you know what we are learning in bio class today??
No, but I heard we have a new unit.
New unit: Learning the function's of Photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and fermentation
Hello class today we will be making it a great day and learning a new unit!!
Photosynthesis:plants use light energy, water, and carbon dioxide to create oxygen and energy in the form of glucose (chloroplast)
Cellular Respiration:The process of converting chemical energy into usable energy (ATP).(mitochondria )
Fermentation: an anaerobic process performed by a cell to generate chemical energy(ATP) from pyruvate (a product of glycolysis)
Lets start with the basics.
What is the relationship between photosynthesis and cellular respiration??
as we see here on the board...
Relationship: Photosynthesis converts carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and glucose. Glucose is used as food by the plant and oxygen is a by-product. Cellular respiration converts oxygen and glucose into water and carbon dioxide. Water and carbon dioxide are by-products and ATP is energy that is transformed from the process.
Passive/ Active transport: Passive transport is the movement of substances across the membrane without the use of cellular energy. Active transport is the movement of substances across the membrane using ATP.
Last thing we will be doing today is on the board. Please copy it down in your notes. Then your free to go
different types:active: endoctoysis, exocytosis, cell membrane pump.passive: osmosis, diffusion and facilitated diffusion.
