The first step to this problem would be to Read the question and assign our question type. Since it's talking about the tickets being 50% off. I would say this is a Ratio and Propotions question type problem.

Alright so I know for sure that the DISCOUNT for the tickets were 50%, so I know that I have to subtract that from the original price of the tickets. When I do that, I get the answer choice C: 30.00, which makes lots of sense because 50% is close to 60% which means it should be a little less than half of the original price of the tickets

X 50$20 100
100x = 20 * 50100 = 1000100 100x = 100

Phew! Now I remember that the each ticket for Kia and Me were 50% off which leaves me to the conclusion of that I need to subtract it from the original price! But that irritating second answer choice would for sure have gotten my eye if i hadnt doubled checked the question and wording of course! So main in its distractions :)
