  • The Peret
  • Shemu
  • Akhet
  • The growing season, also known as 'Peret' is the time ancient Egyptians plant and grow their crops. This occurs between October and February. As the flood is receded in early October, black soil is known as Kemet. The rich layer of soil is then pouched and seeded for the growing of the plants.
  • Shemu is the harvesting season in Egypt which occurs during March-May. Before the Nile river gets flooded again, fully grown crops must be harvested and traded. Let overs are left to buy imports of good.
  • The flooding season, also known as akhet is the most well known season of the three. During June - September, farmers are sent to work for the pharaohs on construction such as tombs, pyramids, statues & other various buildings.
