  • The Exposition of the Story Two Kinds is that Jing-Mei's Family moved to America from China when she was just a little baby. There was also a war in China which made Jing-Mei's mom leave everything behind in China. The mother wants Jing-Mei to have a better life in America and for her to become a child prodigy.
  • Climax
  • The conflict is when JIng Mei is crying in the mirror. She didn't like the face her mother made when she was disappointed, it made her die inside. She hated all the high expectations her mother put on her, as well as making her feel as if she was a basic and ordinary child when she wanted to be a unique child prodigy as her mother desired.
  • Falling Action
  • The Rising Action of the story Two Kinds is when Jing-Mei gets a perm so she could be the next Shirley Temple. Her mom goes a bit far in doing so and comes up with strange ways to help Jing-Mei be the best at her hidden talents. Later on in the story, Jing-Mei is forced to take piano lessons.
  • Resolution
  • The climax of the story Two Kinds is when Jing Mei's mother is very proud of JIng-Mei. She is so proud that she invites Auntie Lindo and Waverly to Jing-Mei's first piano recital. Later on, Jing-Mei and her mother get into a huge conversational fight that leads to JIng-Mei's freedom in the future.
  • The Falling Action of the Story Two Kinds is when Jing-Mei hurts her mother's feelings and the mother gives up on the idea of JIng-Mei being a child prodigy. After many years, Jing-Mei reveals that she never actually tried the best she could at anything, just to spite her mother.
  • The resolution of the Story Two Kinds was when Jing-Mei's mother was talking to Auntie Lindo, bragging about how Jing-Mei was a musical prodigy. Jing-Mei felt as if it were time to end her mothers foolish pride. On her 30th birthday, her mother and father gave her the old piano she played when she was younger.
