Phew! Much cooler here! Erosion is the wearing down, transportation and deposition of material by water, wind and ice.
I wonder how this cave got here...
Ohh, yes! I know! The cave was created by a giant sea monster who kept trying to make a crack in this big rock and eventually over hundreds of millions of years, he made an enormous opening which is now a cave!
In other words, this geomorphologist (who investigates how landforms are formed on the Earth) is saying that the cave was created due to erosion; water slowly seeped into the cracks and pores in the limestone and eventually dissolved the rock and created this cave!
Tectonics is the processes within the mantle which build up the various features on the Earth's crust, for example this volcano! I'm not too sure if it's a dormant or extinct volcano...
UH OH! Seems like this is a dormant volcano! I don't think I have to explain what that means!
RUN!!!
That was close! So the last word for today is weathering, which means, the physical or chemical breakdown of materials into smaller materials.
Rivers cause weathering, as moving water in rivers cause rocks to rubtogether.
So I hope you learnt something new today. Until next time!
