The water cycle is the proceses in which water moves around. I am Charlie and I am going to show you how it happens.
Evaporation
Condensation

Precipitation
When I am in the ocean, the sun heats me up and I become extremely hot. The heat makes me turn into water vapor and I become less dense. Because I am less dense, I go up to the sky. This process is called evaporation.
Infiltration
I go up into the sky as water vapor and I start changing back into liquid. The change from water vapor to liquid is called condensation. My friends, the water droplet, and I become a cloud loaded with water.
Runoff
Water Vapor
In this cloud full of droplets, I grow heavier and gravity starts pulling me down. The cloud bursts. Depending on the weather, I can become rain, snow, fog or hail. This is how precipitation happens.
After my trip through the air I ended up as ground water and I entered the soil. This is infiltation. After I enter the soil I continued to travel underground into rivers, lakes, reservoirs, creeks and streams.  This process is know as ground water flow. These places where I can rest are very important since I can be used by people as fresh water. Rivers, lakes, reservoirs, creeks, streams are freshwater storage.

I can travel to many places. Sometimes, when I am coming down as precipitation, I stay on the land surface. The gravity can help me to continue traveling to rivers. It is so refreshing! When I move through the land to the river, it is called runoff.  Whenever there's is a large group of me and my friends, I can make the river discharge grow. This is the volume of water that flows in the river. Other times I ascend from the soil or plants to the atmosphere as vapor. When this happens, we like to call it evapotranspiration.
