- Brutus and Cassius's argument begins to escalate once in the tent and finally reaches its climax when Cassius offers his dagger to Brutus and tells him to kill him.
- The tension caused by the fight eases as Cassius and Brutus discuss the death of Portia and future battle plans.
- Cassius exits and Brutus is left alone to read, but he is interrupted when the ghost of Caesar visits him and says they will meet again at Philippi.
