When I was young, I was living in small village, with only a mountain road of less than 2 meters connecting us too the outside world. There was no electricity and no tap water.
The village, at night, was covered by the gloomy shades of night, and only the lights from the windows of cattages flashed in insipid and dim yellow.
I used to row a boat in the river which passed by the village. The water spray was slightly patting at the side of the boat, which harassed and disturbed the fishes in the lucid water, so they flicked their fins hither and thither.
The mountains surrounded the village. Our group of children used to yell loudly at the mountains, listening to the sound echoing in the valley and gradually drifting away. I felt as if I had the special power of summoning the mountain's spirits.
The woods around the mountain village were dense and lush; all kinds of birds chirped and chirped, especially in summer pheasants trailing long and colorful tails flew over the village. This was a beautiful scene.
Although the village was quite poor and backward , growing in such a environment made me closer to colorful nature and vibrant animals. Also it was this living state that gradually developed my habit of be friendly with people and the surrounding environment. I think it has been helpful in career later.
