The play begins with three witches planning to meet Macbeth.
A rebellion has just been defeated and King Duncan has been told that Macbeth is a great hero.
Try to be a man!
Macbeth and Banquo meet the witches and make three prophecies. 1: Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor 2: He will become king 3: Banquo's descendants will be kings.
Macbeth sends a letter to his wife (Lady Macbeth) telling her the witches' prophecies. She becomes ambitious and decides to make sure the Macbeth becomes king.
King Duncan says at Macbeth's castle. Macbeth debates on whether he should kill King Duncan and his wife tells him to be a man.
On his way to King Duncan's room he sees a dagger which encourages him to commit the murder.
