This scene shows when Katie first arrived at school and is immediately bombarded with questions. The kids and teachers say such things as "why is your hair so curly" and "Going to a party?". To a normal person, these sayings might be rude but to Katie's innocent mind, they are just asking questions. If her sister was in this situation, then she would have reacted to this situation with anger or confrontation.
Why is your hair like that?
Why are you so dressed up?
In this scene from Katie's perspective, her uncle is teaching her and her sister how to spit like a pro. In Katie's head, this was just her uncle teaching her a new skill, something that she might use in the future. In reality, the action that the uncle was teaching was pretty gross. She doesn't think twice when learning this new "skill" because her sister seemed interested.
HOCKA-HOCKA-HOCKA
In this scene, Katie is asking Lynn a lot of questions after she was injured. Lynn repeatedly said "No" after just wanting to stay in bed after she was hit in the chest by the ball, but Katie doesn't really respect that. Katie constantly asks questions such as "Do you all want an apple?" and "Do all want some company?". Questions like these get very annoying very quickly when you don't feel well and want to be left alone.
No
Hmmmmm
This is the scene when Katie first arrives at school and everyone is asking her questions. In Katie's perspective, she thought everyone was being nice and just wanted to know about her. In reality, people were judging her and wanted to know why she was different. In Katies mind no one would ever treat her differently because of her nationality, but in real life, it is the opposite.
Although to Katie learning how to spit was a needed skill to learn, other people would disagree. To most people spiting is disrespectful and gross. Because of this, most people wouldn't want to be a pro spitter. With Katie's innocent mind, she thought that her uncle would do no wrong and would only teach her things important for life.
This scene, shows Lynn being annoyed after Katie asked her a lot of pointless questions. Lynn is also sore and just wanted to stay in bed because she was hurt by a ball hitting her in the chest. To Katie, she is being nice and polite when asking questions but to Lynn, she thinks Katie is being annoying.
