- kino is the protagonist of this story. he is lives in the brush village with his wife juana and his son coyotito. kino is a diver and with this skill he was able to find the pearl.
- Juana is kinos loyal wife and mother of coyotito. she's a woman with long, dark black hair that she ties in two braids with green ribbons. She often wears a blue shawl and skirt that is worn with age.
- coyotito is the son of juana and kino.He is the character that got stung by a scorpion and was denied by the doctor of the stone village
- This is the doctor that initially denied coyotito but found out that kino and juana have found the pearl and happily asked to treat them
- When the priest found out that kino found the pearl he tried to help him out and give him advice by tell him to move and go somewhere else. he did this because he thought maybe kino would give him some of the money he gets.
- The attackers are the ones on the mountain that were looking for kino, juana and coyotito. kino attacked and killed the the three trackers but in doing he lost coyotito.
