  • In 1483, I, Martin Luther was born in Eisteben in Saxony, Germany. I started my schooling at the age of 7. I studied at the University of Erfurt and received my master in the arts degree in the year 1501. After this my father wished that i would continue my studies in law, however after being caught in a terrible thunderstorm, i vowed to god that if my life was spared i would go on to become a monk, so thats what i did. That same year i entered the Augustinian Monastery.

  • 1507, Luther was ordained as a priest, he continued his studies in theology. In 1511, Luther was sent to teach in Wittenburg to lecture in theology and scripture. Whilst he taught he started to contemplate whether the Catholic Church was right about certain things, especially but not limited to the selling of indulgences to be forgiven of sins. While he was studying the letters of St Paul, he made a shocking discovery. "The just man lives by faith", after reading this he became convinced that faith was the most important thing a christian had to live by.
  • oh no worms
  • In 1517 luther posted a list of 95 theses to the main Catholic church in Germanys door. Soon after these points were made public and Germany was in an uproar. Less and less people were buying indulgences .
  • The just man lives by faith
  • AMEN!
  • Germany was in an uproar, and the church was becoming corrupt. The church was mad that they were loosing money and kicked Luther out. The pope condemned 41 of Luthers theses as heresy. Luther publicly burned the popes letter. In 1521, Luther was excommunicatd and outlawed. During this time he went into hiding.
  • Later in 1521, Luther was kidnapped and taken to the Diet o Worms and was forced to eat worms until he return to the Catholic Church and their beliefs.
  • To continue his actions to serve the mission of jesus, Luther translated the bible into German. The original bible was in latin and Luther felt it was unfair and unjust for only those who could read and understand latin, to be able to read the bible. Later he created the Lutheran Church.
