- Colonists went so far as to close their own businesses just so they wouldn't have to abide by the British taxes, because they had no representation in them.

- Gave British Parliament the ability to tax America as much as it wanted, and to pass any law upon America that it deemed.

- The Townshend Acts removed the Colonists' right to a trial by jury, allowed British Officials the ability to search any home or ship unwarranted, and applied taxes on British imports.
