  • Hygelac’s death recalled
  • The dragon began to spit flames at the building burning it completely and was seen by men from a distance. The dragon that started the disaster and injured the Geats quickly fled the scene going back to its hoard of treasure.
  • Later, Beowulf was aware of the terror that the dragon had caused. He knew that his own home was destroyed by fire including the best of halls.
  • He thought that his being punished by the eternal gods but he plan on getting revenge to the dragon whom destroyed his home, the buildings and the victim that were harmed.
  • Then, Beowulf asked for a magnificent iron battle shield. Because he was well aware that a wooden shield wouldn't work against fire.
  • In the midst of the fierce battle, Beowulf despised to send an army up against the dragon and he was determines to fight alone.
  • When Hygelac was slain in the Frisian land, killed in the battle-rush defeated down by the sword. Beowulf fled in his own vessel and swam across the ocean carrying 30 battle-trapping on his one arm.
  • Beowulf swam back to his people across the vast ocean, wretched and alone, where Hygd promised him riches, a kingdom, rings, and power.
  • She didn't believe that her son, Heardred could defend their native seats against stranger. The people were not convince that Beowulf himself to be the rightful ruler of Heardred but he still help the people until Heardred becomes an adult.
  • When Heardred was killed from a deadly wound. Leaving Beowulf to the throne, he became the ruler and was a good king.
