  • In 1754 Colonel George Washington brought 150 men to attack a French fort called Fort Duquense. They were outnumbered and forced to retreat. Fort Duquense was in the Ohio River Valley. The British wanted land and the fur trade.
  • In 1757 the French captured a British fort called Fort William Henry. The French now have control of the Hudson River and New York City. The British had declared war.
  • In 1758 the British captured Fort Frontenac on Lake Ontario. The French can no longer get more food, soldiers, or weapons.
  • In 1759, the British climbed a 300-foot cliff at night. There was a french fort on top. The French surrendered the fort. It was a great battle. This was called the Battle Of Quebec. General James Wolfe was killed in the battle. In 1760, France surrendered. In 1763, The treaty of Paris was signed.
  • The British gained land eat of the Mississipi river. Spain gave the British Flordia in exchange for the land west of the Mississipi River. The British were now in debt. They thought that the Americans should pay for it because they did so much for them.
  • In 1763 The Native Americans were not happy about the French losing the French and Indian war. Pontiac's Rebellion made the proclamation line which meant that the British settlers can not settle in land acquired from the French.
