Today I will be talking about the 3 steps of cellular respiration!
Glycolysis:
Step 1: Glycolysis -Location : CytoplasmProcess: Glucose is broken down to make pyruvate and 2 ATP are produced
Kreb's Cycle (citric acid cycle)
Onto step 2! Kreb's cycle or citric acid cycle: This step ONLY occurs with oxygen. It's location is inside the mitochondria. First pyruvate is converted to Acetyl CoA. Before the cycle 2 Co2, 2 ATP, and electron carriers are produced.
Electron Transport Chain
The next step is the Electron Transport Chain: This also ONLY occurs with oxygen. It is located inside the mitochondria. NADH and FADH2 is used to make 34 ATP. Chemiosmosis is the transport of H+ with the concentration gradient.
Lactic Acid Fermentation or Alcoholic fermentation
The final step is Lactic Acid Fermentation or Alcoholic Fermentation: This process ONLY happens in cytoplasm. It is 2 steps - Glycolysis (2 atp) and Fermentation (2 ATP). The kinds of cells this processes is bacterial, yeast, and muscle cells. The products are alcohol and lactic acid. This ONLY HAPPENS IF THERE IS NO OXYGEN!!
Final!
And..that's it! I hope this helped you learn the 3 stages of cellular respiration!
