King Priam of Troy had more than 50 children. Among them were Cassandra and Helenus. Early in their infancy their father decided that they would be given to serve in the temple of the Apollo. Cassandra grew up to be a beautiful woman who marvelled to god Apollo. The god declared his love for her but she rejected him. Apollo hid his anger and asked her for just one kiss. When she came in for a kiss, Apollo spat in her mouth, leaving her with a curse. Cassandra still had the power of prophecy, but had lost the power of persuasion. Because of this, no one ever believed her prophecies. If she hadn't rejected Apollo, then the great bloodbath that was soon to come could've been avoided.
