Cuba didn’t have great utilities to start with. War has destroyed the already bad utilities leaving Susan’s house without water and electricity. The Jones family can’t wash themselves or their clothes, which is very unhygienic. Diseases could start spreading.

Susan had a cooking business and sold meals to her community as her source of income. Unfortunately due to the war, settlements around her have been destroyed and Susan has lost many of her clients. She also can’t cook without water and electricity

Port Elizabeth is much safer than Cuba. The Jones’ are very safe there
Susan’s family now has running water and electricity. They can shower with very clean, hot water and they are able to flush the toilet. Susan can also clean their clothes and use a vacuum to clean the house.
Nobody in Susan’s area sells quality food like she does. She has had so many orders from her new clients already and the future looks very promising. Her kitchen is a lot bigger now and she has more space to cook in. Having electricity and water has sped up the cooking process.
