  • No sir, Mr Rolihlahla...when I was signing my employment contract HR asked if I would like to join the union but I am not interested. This is my very first job and I am new in the company,thus I am trying to stay out of trouble.

  • The union also protects employees from exploitation and other discrimanatory practicises. It reduceses inequality because it challenges the very base of paid employment. We demand legitamacy in our recruitment processes and garantee that we will not tolerate any discramanatory practices. Our goals is to improve organisational performance and sustainability, which benefits both employers and employees, so we are constantly in dialogue with employers. We strive to improve our working relationships. So in conclusion you will never get into trouble for joining the union Mr Khwela.

  • Oooh very interesting, I did not know that employers are aware of union member's activities and I thought that you hold your meetings behind employer's back. Thank you so much for enlightening me. I would really like to join the union and I was talking to the other ladies here in the office, they all told me they not part of the union. I guess they also don't know much about the union but I am joining today.

  • First of all, I would like to emphasize that you will never get in trouble with your employer for joining the union. Our union is registered and recognized under the 1996 South African Constitution,which provides freedom of association and gives workers and employers the ability to join and form unions, hence this right is enshrined in the labour relations Act. The union acts as a platform to support its members in many ways.
