Hi, my name is Tyler and I am 17 and a schizophrenic
Schizophrenia can make everyday life and the smallest tasks difficult. It often causes me to hallucinate. Sometimes I wish I didn't have this condition.
“They don’t understand what it’s like, they don’t know how hard it is to do the smallest tasks.”
Schizophrenia can make it hard to socialise...
I have been diagnosed with this condition since I was 6 and was prescribed medication since I was 14
“I wish I could be like the others, I am ashamed of myself.”
My hallucinations can be tame and positive like a friendly stranger..
I face difficulty being able to sleep due to my schizophrenia which can cause lack of sleep and change in sleep patterns
Where's the nearest gasstation?
I feel Lazy
It causes me to stay in my room for extended periods of time whilst being very unhygeinic and having poor grooming habits.
But when I'm off my medications they can also be overwhelming and frightening
And in my own time I like to meditate
But I have found methods of coping and ways to decrease the intensity of my symptoms.
“I must find ways to better myself and accept that this is how it's going to be."
Like joining a peer support group with other people with the same condition...
That is how I was able to relieve the symptoms of schizophrenia whilst not relying on medications.
