Louisiana Purchase was when the USA bought some connected land from the french for $15 million dollars. Thomas Jefferson was the president during this time. The French were desperate for money.

Lewis and Clark were the first to go through Kansas for the Americans and ended up loving the animals and land! They stated that this land was very livable to the government.
Jackson's Speech
Zebulon Pike also went through Kansas and had a very different viewpoint than what Lewis and Clark said. Pike described this as an "African Desert" and said it was nothing like what Lewis and Clark Said.
Indian Removal Act
Stephan Long went to Kansas a little after Pike and said almost the same as what he said. In fact, Stephan Long named Kansas, "The Great American Desert."
Later, after all the explorers went to Kansas, Jackson made the decision to move all the Indian tribes to Kansas. Therefore, they could build cities where the tribes were before.
Indian Removal Act was when all the Native Americans made the travel to Kansas. As they knew it as, The New Land.
