  • ON A SUNNY MONDAY MORNING.. A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF COMMONS, TOMMY, WALKS TO THE CHAMBER MEETING.
  • I'VE GOT A LONG DAY AHEAD! TODAY I'M GOING TO BE PROPOSING A BILL TO THE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT IN THE CHAMBER.
  • THE BILL I'M INTRODUCING IS THE JAYWALKER ACT— TO MAKE JAYWALKING ILLEGAL ACROSS CANADA. THE IDEA WAS PETITIONED BY A CITIZEN WHOSE SON WAS KILLED WHILE JAYWALKING.
  • JAYWALKING DOES NOT ONLY ENDANGER THE PEDESTRIANS, BUT THE DRIVERS ON THE ROADS ARE PUT IN SUDDEN JEOPARDY AS WELL.
  • THUS, I PROPOSE THAT JAYWALKING IS MADE A CRIMINAL OFFENCE.THIS WOULD LIKELY DISCOURAGES THE MASSES FROM JAYWALKING.
  • IT MIGHT BE CONTROVERSIAL NOW, BUT THIS BILL WOULD REDUCE RISKS OF ACCIDENTS IN THE LONG TERM. CROSSWALKS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS SHOULD BE ABIDED BY TO PREVENT HURTING ANYONE ON THE ROAD, DESPITE THE URGENCY OF ONE PEDESTRIAN'S SITUATION.
  • SURE, JAYWALKING IS A THREAT TO PEOPLE'S SAFETY—BUT MOST CITIZENS KNOW TO NOT JAYWALK UNLESS THE PATH'S CLEAR. MANY PEOPLE DO IT WHEN THEY'RE IN A RUSH, AND WE MIGHT GET A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS.
