Bet. I know what I can do. Go in the backyard. I'm gonna try to throw the ball over my house.
This is getting kinda boring.
Really?...Well, I have an idea. Why don't you test how high you can throw?
Okay, but I don't think you can do it.
Relax, all we have to do is figure out the height if the tree then get a ladder.
How did you do that?
How do we find the height?
I don't know, but how are we gonna get it down?
On a hot Saturday afternoon, Kai and Chris decide to play catch outside in Kai's front yard.
The angle of elevation of the tree looks about 63 degrees and from the house to the tree its like 54 feet.
After 10 minutes of catching and passing Kai gets bored so Chris comes up with an idea to make their game more fun.
63'
Kai launches the ball over his house and way pass Chris. It lands right on top of the tallest tree in his backyard.
Chris explains to Kai how to find the height of the tree.
So all we have to do is use tangent to find the height.
Okay, lets do it
Chris and Kai find the height of the tree to be 106 feet.
The tree is about 106 feet so we need the big ladder.
54
tan63=x/54 x=106
Chris holds the ladder while Kai climbs to retrieve their football. Then they return to the front yard to enjoy lemonade that Kai's mom made for them.
