In 1804, Lewis and Clark went on an expedition to map the new territory. They spent 123 miles in Kansas and described it as a very beautiful area with lots of animals and plants.

In 1829, President Andrew Jackson made a speech to Congress calling Native Americans "Savages" and saying that they should be relocated

In 1830, the Indian Removal Act forced Native Americans to move to Kansas and other areas. Conditions were bad.
