- one major theme of "monsters are due on maple street" by Rod Serling is that mankind is its worst enemy. for example, they all started blaming goodman of being the alien. One reason why they blamed him is that his car randomly turned on and off. Another reason why they blamed him was because he would get up at night and look up at the sky. the last reason why is because his neighbor heard he had a radio in his basement. another example why i think the theme is mankind is its own worst enemy The theme is because someone shot van horn. The reason why they shot him was because they saw a dark figure moving and someone shot him. my last reason why i think that the themeis mankind is its worst enemy is that at the end they all started blaming everyone and saying that they are the reason why nothing is working. And those are my three reasons why i think that mankind is its worst enemy.
