Police brutality is excessive use of force by law enforcement in the line of duty. It could violate a person's rights and put their lives at risk. It is an abuse of power by police officers and experienced mostly by minorities.

It is our responsibility to protect and serve every citizen. We as law enforcement must hold each other accountable and to a higher standard.
It can cause a distrust in the community. It harbors fear and discourages cooperating or contacting law enforcement. Accountability must be taken and change implemented to prevent violence.
Change is needed by coming together and finding a common solution. Firstly, officers who have resorted to excessive force must be held accountable. Also, better law enforcement training is needed to prevent unnecessary violence. Its important to build trust within the community so that the police are able to do their job and citizens feel protected.
An example of change is the conviction of the officer who murdered George Floyd. It represents holding officers accountable for their actions.
