  • "Now you have conceived and shall bear a son, you shall call him Ishmael, for the Lord have given heed to your affliction. he shall be a wild man, with his hand against everyone, and everyone's hand against him; and she shall live at odds with all his kin."
  • " I am God Almighty, walk before me and be blameless. I will make my covenant between me and you. You shall be the ancestor of a multitude of nation.
  • "No longer shall your name be Abram, but your name shall be Abraham,." 
  • Genesis 16; 11-12: And the angel of the Lord said to her that she will bear Abrams child and will call him Ishmael, and he will be great. When Hagar bore her child, they names him Ishmael just like what the Lord had asked. Abram was eighty-six years old at that time.
  • "As for your wife Sarai, you shall not call her Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name, I will bless her will give you a son by her. She shall give rise to nation; kings of people shall come to her."
  • Genesis 17; God appeared the Abram again and told him that he will create a covenant between them, which was that Abram will be the ancestor of many nation and that he will have descendants as much as the stars in the sky.

  • Genesis 17; 5-6: God then said that Abram will now be called Abraham and that he will establish his covenant between them.

  • Genesis 17; 15-17: God said to Abraham that his wife Sarai, will now be called Sarah and that he will bless her to rise nation and kings of people will come to her.
  • Genesis 17; 17-20; Abraham laughed when God said that Sarah will bear him a son and questioned whether she is still able to bear a child at her age. God answered No but she will bear him a child and God will establish a covenant with him.
  • 1- "Can a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old. Can Sarah who is ninety years old bear a child? O that Ishmael might live in your sight"
  • Genesis 17; 20-21; God told Abraham that Ishmael will be great and fruitful and he will make a great nation. However, God will not establish his covenant with Ishmael, only Isaac.
