- This is Tomato man but he was selling collard greens at the time.
- This big family (Grandpa T, Dad(Junior, Li'll) T, Mom, Tanya(little sister), and baby Terrell) was on their way to church in their little tiny car when all of a sudden the dad stops "I think I hit a dog." he says. The dog was alive but injured (not to mention super thin.) They don't know what to do because he won't fit in their car so Li'll T says he will walk to the church that way he can.
- "Ain't nobody's, just a street dog"
- collard greens
- St. Roch Avenue
- "His hind leg's broke."
- "oh, Lord"
- (talking to tomato man)"Who's dog is this?"
- "We hit a dog----Wham!""That dog is laying right over there"
- Grandpa T says"That dog is one of God's creatures, we hurt him and we don't have the money to help him." then he asks How are we going to help that dog like the good Lord says we ought to?" Then the church started helping him raise money to help the dog. One person helps out by taking the dog to a veterinarian that his daughter works for.
- "How are we going to help Brother Roberts?"
- "Mercy!"
- "Don't take on, now. It's for the best.
- The Family goes back 2 days later to see the dog. The dog was "laying in a wire cage with a big blue plastic cone around his neck, his half leg all wrapped up in bandages, and his ribs still looking like a piece of black corduroy cloth laid over a frame."
- "Cut it off?!?"
- I'm sorry, but you may not see him right now, he's getting ready for surgery...we're gonna have to cut of his leg.
