  • Hello, today Jeba and I will be talking about how shelter and food supply have changed over the years
  • Back then, we never had a permanent shelter to live in. We would always have to move to follow our food.
  • Zzzzz....
  • I need to go to the restroom
  • Wow , I can't wait to live in here
  • Before long, we learned how to build houses making them a permanent shelter.
  • Kroen and Jeba are people from the paleolithic age around 2 million years ago!In these next cells they will be explaining how shelter and their food supply has changed throughout history!
  • A while ago, the only way we were able to get our food was by hunting .
  • ahhhhh!!!
  • In the Paleolithic Age, people had to live in tent like structures such as caves. They weren't able to stay in one location for long. They were considered nomads (one who moves place to place with no home) and had to keep up with the nearest herd of animals.
  • Then we figured out that we can grow food with seeds!
  • Then as the Neolithic age came around, the hominins eventually learned how to build houses. This gave protection from harsh weather, wild animals, and made their life more comfortable. The long-lasting shelters enabled people to settle together in larger communities.
  • Later on, we trained animals to help with farming and use them for peoples needs
  • "During the Paleolithic Age, people obtained food by hunting animals and gathering plants. They did not have a stable, or dependable, food supply. Hunting was dangerous, and hunters were often injured or killed."
  • "Gradually, people found ways to lessen their dependence on hunting and gathering. Instead of gathering wild plants, people discovered that they could plant seeds and harvest crops. Over time, farmers learned which seeds produced the most crops in the areas where they lived."
  • In the Neolithic Age, early farmers learned how to domesticate animals (to train a wild animal to be useful to humans). They raised goat, sheep, and cattle for the meat. These 2 developments are called agriculture. Agriculture marked the beginning of the Neolithic Age!
