  • KING EDWARD III TRIES TO TAKE OVER FRANCE
  • The cause of the war started in 1337 when the French King died and his closest relative was King Edward III of England. Edward claimed he had every right to the French throne but the French people refused. This ended up being the start of The Hundred Years War.
  • TREATY SIGNING
  • This is my throne now!!
  • SIEGE OF ORLEANS
  • WEAPONS
  • During The Hundred Years War, weapons played a big part on both sides throughout the whole time. Everyone had cannons but they weren't that accurate at the beginning. English had the longbow that could shoot an arrow really far and at a very high speed that could penetrate a knights armor where French had crossbows that weren't as good. Towards the end of the war French had better cannons too.
  • This battle was the last major English victory over the French in The Hundred Years War. It was thought that the French would win this battle by far but the English bottlenecked them causing the French to trample over each other on muddy grounds. The mud caused a lot of the French to sink into it and drown in their helmets. Others were taken prisoner and later killed.
  • BATTLE OF AGINCOURT
  • BATTLE OF CASTILLON
  • After the Battle of Agincourt, the French signed a treaty with Henry V which made him temporary ruler of France and marry the old kings daughter, making him heir to the throne. This led to Charles VII, the old kings son, wanting to remove the English from France and take the country back. When Joan of Arc showed up it encouraged him even more and led to the Siege of Orleans.
  • Treaty
  • This battle was the turning point of the war. This was the war that a peasant girl, Joan of Arc, convinced the French troops to attack the English and lead them to many victories after.
  • This battle is the last battle of The Hundred Years War ending in a French victory. The French developed new, powerful, more accurate cannons that stopped charging knights and penetrated strong walls. With the ending of this war Europe started to move out of the Middle Ages and move away from feudalism and more into nationalism.
