- There is cold and rainy weather on farmland. The crops are dying so there is no harvest. No harvest means that there is no food. No food means very unhappy people and high prices in stores.
- The French kingdom was in a large debt and needed money. They decided to tax people at very high prices to pay their debts. the people became very poor.
- The French used the Feudal system while every other nation uses democracy. This angered the people because they didn't get to pick their leader.
