  • We are willing to fight and free our people!
  • Their will be consequences!
  • The enslaved people had shown the french soldier that they weren't going to be held back any longer. This caused the French to do the unthinkable.
  • The French colony signaled for back-up as their plan was to wipe out half of the slaves. They wanted to discourage the slaves from rebelling but in the end, this massacre fueled the revolution.
  • There was lots of blood shed and by the end of the conflict, 345,000 soldiers and slaves had been killed.
  • In June of 1804, the slaves had successfully liberated Haiti, but their island was left in ruins and they were cut off from all trading outs. This caused the country to go into a deep poverty.
