There are four characters within the story. The crow has the ability to speak. The Manciple's Tale is the 23 story in the Canterbury tales.
Climax
the story starts out with our character phoebes a wealthy and talented man. He has a beautiful wife whom he loves more than life itself. however he is a very jealous man who keeps and eye on her at all times making her feel like a prisoner. He also has an all white pet crow that has the ability to speak.
Falling Action
One day when phoebes was away his wife has an affair with her secret lover. Her lover was of low social status especially as compared to phoebes. Without there knowledge the crow was aware of what was going on the whole time.
Resolution/Lesson
That day when Phoebes came home the crow had spoke to him. The crow mentioned what transpired between his wife and her secret lover. Then in a fit of rage he murders his wife there on the spot
After killing her and letting the rage subside he had realized what he had done. And in that moment he held great remorse for what transpired. So he grieved at the sight of his dead wife.
While in remorse and anger he grabs the white crow and plucks it of all its feathers and replaces them with black ones. then before throwing the crow out he cuts out the crows tongue. there for removing its ability to speak or sing. the lesson learned is that your words can have consequences.
