The Indus Valley homes were built around courtyards. They also had stairs that led to the rooftop so they had extra space to work and relax.

The Indus Valley civilization had wells for water and bathrooms with pipes that carried the peoples waste into the main drain.
The waste was taken care of through the underground pipes, which were covered in bricks. These holes here are almost like how the Indus Valley Civilization toilets.
