  • Pathos
  • That is outrageous! People have lives too, they could've been doing something better right now, like visiting their family for goodness sake!
  • Ethos
  • You can't do this! Me, a hunter just like you, I understand that sometimes it gets boring, but that does not mean hunting your own kind!
  • Logos
  • You have to stop this! Even if us humans have the ability to negotiate, a person still can choose to just give up and won't try at all, just like an animal.
  • When Rainsford told Zaroff that what he's doing is outrageous and is explaining how these people also have family, Rainsford is trying to make Zaroff feel bad for the person's family.
  • Rainsford expresses how since he also is a hunter himself, he knows the feeling of boredom. But he also says how that shouldn't resort to killing humans. Since him and Zaroff are both hunters, they can trust what the other is saying in some way.
  • Rainsford uses what Zaroff said of how people can reason their way out and explains how people can also not try and give up. He's saying that people can also be like an animal, trying to convince Zaroff that there is no difference of killing an animal.
