- It is concluded. Banquo, thy soul's flight, if it find heaven, must find it out tonight.
- The murderers attack Banquo and kill him but Fleances escaped. The murderers report to Macbeth.
- Macbeth hires murderers to kill Banquo and his son Fleance. Lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth to carry out the murder and he agrees, despite his doubts.

- Hecate scolds the witches for meddling in Macbeth's affairs without her permission. She orders them to meet her again for further instructions.

- Mabeth has a breakdown during the banquet when he sees Banquo's ghost. Lady Macbeth tries to cover up for him and dismiss the guests

- Lennox and the lord discuss how Macbeth has become a tyrant and how the people are turning against him. They plan to join forces with Malcolm and English army to overthrow Macbeth.
- Macbeth invites Banquo to a banquet, but secretly plots his murder with two murderers he hired. Banquo senses something out of the ordinary and tells Fleance to leave the palace.
