- “Unbelievable.” Eckels breathed, the light of the Machine on his thin face. “A real Time Machine.”
- Meeting the mentor and crossing the threshold.
- What to do and what not to do...
- In Eckel's ordinary world, he lives in a society that has time travel and it's open to the public. However, the price for going back in time cost greatly. Eckel is one of the many that is interred by going back in time.
- Test, Enemies, Allies
- Eckel, the tour guide and the front office worker were talking about the experience they are about to go one. Eckel's is very anxious but seems to be excited about going back in time to see dinosaurs. When he sees the time machine I believe it sold him to continue on with his quest. Even though Eckel's likes the time machine and the thought of it, he becomes a little nervous when reading the liability paper. He doesn't like that he may be harmed in the process it scares him.
- Approach.
- Eckel meets Lesperance, his mentor, and he is leading him along this expedition. Lesperance has to carefully explain the rules and consequences that come along with Eckel being there with them. The most important thing Lesperance says to him is to not disturb anything from the past. Once Eckel gets into that machine to face the dinosaur, there is no going back.
- Return to the Ordinary World
- The test that Eckel needs to face is his fear of the t-rex. He lets his fears take over his body and he made a run for it. Not even noticing he steps off the path. His enemy is Travis and he threaten to shoot him and leave him there to die. Lesperance stopped Travis from doing both of those things
- For Eckel to come home with them, Travis told him he needed to remove the bullets from the dinosaur. So of course his plan was to do whatever they told him to do and he even offered to pay however much the penalty was.
- When Eckel returns back to his ordinary world everything has changed. Starting with the office that looked different from when he first was in there and the president that was elected before he left wasn't president anymore. He lost the election. All of this happened because when he stepped off course he killed a butterfly.
