  • After meeting at a party, Khalil offered Starr a lift home! After a while, an officer pulled Khalil aside. The next thing you know, Starr is witnessing her cousin Khalil's death because he was shot three times in the back by an officer who mistook Khalil for having a weapon.
  • Except while Khalil was holding the hairbrush, the officer was terrified of him. Khalil was a drug dealer, as you are aware... like it or not, all Black people are drug lords.

  • The cops and detectives call Starr the next day to explain what happened that night because Starr was the only witness to Khalil's death.

  • Days later, riots and protests develop in Garden Heights as a result of the cops and investigators' refusal to provide Khalil with justice!
  • Would an officer shoot Khalil if he was white?
  • Well... No, the officer would have requested him to reveal his hands, and if he didn't have a gun, they would have left him alone.
  • Following a large protest in Garden Heights, everyone at Williamson Prep High School begins to discuss Khalil's tragedy. According to Starr, when Hailey discovers the truth, she begins to be racist toward black people. So they have a big argument in front of the entire school?!
  • King purposely sets fire to Starr's father's store in order to get revenge on Starr and her father for providing accurate information on King and his group, which he dislikes.
  • It's the next day after what occurred the night before, and Starr is asking Uncle Carlos, a cop, a question about Khalil.
