  • Germany actually surrendered twice. The first time was in WW1 and the second in WW2. The first reason was mainly because of food shortages and the army was struggling. The second time was because they signs an unconditional “Act of Military Surrender” and ceasefire on May 7, 1945.
  • What was the Manhattan project? The Manhattan project was the research and development of the first nuclear weapons. This took place in Manhattan from 1942-1947.
  • United States and the Soviet Union, Friend or Foe?The U.S and the Soviet Union were't necessarily friends. Although, during the cold war.. after the second world war the soviet union and the U.S fought but were both scared to fight one another. So instead of fighting each other head on they fought indirectly.
  • During World War 2, the U.S deployed the first bomb devastating Hiroshima,Japan. This bomb was killed about 80,000. Tens of thousands more were to die later due to radiation from the explosion. This happened on august 6th, 1945.
  • 3 days later.. Japan is hit with another bomb. This time in the city of Nagasaki. This would result in a surrender from Japan. The reason they didn't surrender the first bomb is because the japanese war council did not think it was enough to make them give up.
  • Finally, Japan surrendered due to the devastation their country had taken. Many people of the war were sad that their country had lost to surrender. But it was best if they had just given up while they were still able to stand. Instead of trying to fire back and risking their chances of a future.
