Hello children, If you don't know I am a griot. I am a storyteller. Today I am going to be telling you one of my favorite stories. It is the story of Mansa Musa's Hajj.
Mansa Musa
Before we get into the story you need to know a little bit about Mansa Musa. Mansa Musa was the tenth Mansa of the Mali Empire. He was the wealthiest man in the middle ages. Since he was so wealthy that was what led to the hajj. Know are you ready to hear the real story?
YES!!!
The Hajj
Alright, come on guys we still have the rest of the Sahara desert to walk. If we are ever going to make it to Mecca then we're going to have to pick up the pace.

Mansa Musa was a emperor of the Mali empire and was said to have 400 billion dollars. Musa was a muslim which is why he did a Hajj. The Hajj led him to being very popular across northern Africa and the Middle East.
Mecca
Ya, we finally made it to the mosque in mecca.
Mansa Musa went on a trip that is called a hajj. He went to Mecca to honor Islam. Mansa Musa had a very long trip to get to Mecca. They had to cross the Sahara dessert, Nile and many other land forms that were hard to cross.
Mansa Musa's Impact
So that was the end of that story. Mansa Musa made a large impact on all the countries he went through, and many more.
Mansa Musa was very wealthy. On his hajj he passed out gold to everyone. He passed out so much gold that he made the value of gold decrease!
Thank you so much Sr. Mansa Musa.
Mansa Musa made it to Mecca and had traveled nearly four thousand miles.
Mansa Musa had a very large impact such as, developing cities like Timbuktu. He also brought architects from the Middle East and across Africa to design new buildings for his cities. Mansa Musa turned the kingdom of Mali into a sophisticated center of learning in the Islamic world. He also gave out so much gold that he decreased the price of Gold.
