today is the day! its our duty from now on as crusaders, were recapturing our holy land
lets fight!
The First Crusade
We have conquered Jerusalem!
The Second Crusade
our tribes were defeated in Anatolia we need to return back home
in 1095 in the same place shown above the council Clermont of France pope urban the second announced the start of the crusades and pointed out their main target which was recapturing their holy land against Muslims.
The Third Crusade
Acre is now free of their soldiers that are armed. we conquered the city!
the official start date was august 15 1096, the armies that left before the time were named as the peoples crusades three of them never made it past Hungary, the other two were defeated by kilij arslan of nicea. the first crusade dealt with those who left after this official start date, they gathered at Constantinople then captured nicea while kilij arslan was away but later on they defeated an army of his at dorlayuem. later on a faction of them seized Edessa and Antioch. the crusaders waited out the summer heat from adhemars death. they were forced to continue but after 3 months in arqah the crusaders conquered Jerusalem in 1099 before the pope urbans death without him knowing
their journey ends
I, King Richard I, agree to this treaty.
I, Salah al-Din, agree to this treaty.
Muslims respond after the first crusade was in 1144 when they conquered Edessa a capital city of the crusaders at the time. the Christians response was by calling for the second crusade to return Edessa their capital back from Muslims. the second crusade was lead by 2 European kings, louis v11 of France and conrad111 of Germany. both countries took separate routes to Anatolia and both were defeated by the seljuk Turks. this was the end of the second crusade which was considered a failure for christians and a huge victory for muslims.
the return
We, young peasants, will go to the Holy Land to take back land from Muslims!
in 1180 salah ad-Din fought against the crusaders, by 1187 he recaptured a part of the Jerusalem nation to bring back to Palestine. so their respond was by recalling a third crusade on a mission to overtake Jerusalem back from Muslims. they got a lead by capturing Acre and Jaffa on their way.
after trying to recapture Jerusalem for several times with only Jaffa in hand, Richard and Saladin have finalized a treaty which still grants the Muslim control over Christians, but still allow unarmed Christians to visit their holy land.
In 1212, young peasants from France and Germany marched in a Children's Crusade but few made it to the Holy Land with some being sold into slavery, returning home, or disappearing without a trace.
