  • When Black people protested police killing of a Black person, White people only focused on the destruction caused by Black people and not the history that caused Black people to feel so abused.
  • Lots of black people were killed in things called lynchings, which were brutal murderings of a black person by 2 or more white people.
  • Molly Turner was a black woman who was killed by a group of white people. This is how she died.

  • The mob burned Molly's body and then shot her repeatedly so that she was no longer recognizable. Lynchings like this took place consistently after the Civil War.
  • Millions of Black people fled the South to escape the terrors of Lynching.
